Course Description:
  • Specialist-led case selection and assessment to improve confidence, knowledge and skills in Oral Surgery
  • Cadaveric dissection and demonstration of relevant anatomy including inferior alveolar, mental and lingual nerves, maxillary antrum, partoid duct, buccal fat pad and maxillary structures/ vessels
  • 1 to 1 supervision of surgical principles including flap design, bone removal, tooth sectioning (including coronectomy procedures) and suturing using animal and cadaver models
  • Management of common complications, including failed procedures/ retained roots, oro-antral communication/ fistulas, displaced roots and preventing nerve injuries

Course Objectives:
  • To enhance knowledge of surgical principles and relevant anatomy
  • To improve skills in planning and performing dental surgical procedures
  • To understand and gain confidence in managing complications such as oro-antral communication, tuberosity fracture and nerve injury
